Beached Trap

Today's photo comes from a walk onto West Beach in Littlehampton. I and a few guys were out looking for something interesting to shoot following a series of days of storms and big waves at the start of January. No sooner had we arrived at the beach than we found this fishing trap just lying there - The ideal prop to make a subject of in our shots.

The following shot was taken using a Big Stopper from Lee Filters. The filter looks like black glass, but it's aim is to reduce so much light getting into the camera that you need to take a much longer exposure. The longer exposure allows time to slow down and turn the sea into a silky still mist. i'll admit that I've not made the best use of it here, but it did have the desired effect.
